BACK, FINALLY...........

Hello Once Again!!!!!

Sorry I have not blogged in awhile. With all that has been happening around the homestead the past few months, I kinda forgot about the old blog entries. Not that many folks read them, but hey, my credibility is at stake.
As we have noted, a new Chief Justice has been named, a woman justice nominee completely embarassed by the wacked-out right, and in her place what appears on the surface to be a well qualified nominee. Pity that the Republicans did not give her an "up or down" vote, to use their BS catch phrase. Once again, the hypocract of the far out right has been shown with absolutely no regrets on their part. I guess they think most of us would not notice, although I am sure their faithful followers will pat them on the back. Truely amazing stuff there.
Also during the past months, the disaster in Iraq continues with the toll well over 2,000 now. As I write this today, 10 American soldiers were killed in one bomb blast. When is this administration (and the idiot Bush) gonna realize that to "stay the course" means to keep adding deaths. It would be great if our soldiers were allowed to fight instead of going on patrols and becomming bullet and bomb magnets. If Bush had gone into Nam, instead of running to the bars in Alabama, he might have figured out that you can not win a guerella war with patrols. It still amazes me that the Republican Party claims to be the pro-military party, yet voted for a coward (fortunate son). Pathetic. But ya gotta hand it to Rove, he is one of the best at getting normal everyday Americans to believe spin and lies. Its good to see that many of these lies have caught up to him (and Libby). Lets hope it catches up will all these liars and misleaders so that our troops can get a leader worthy of their heroism and bravery. They do not deserve Bush.
Please take time over the holidays to send our fighters something to cheer them up. Make some cookies or fudge and send it to them. I will post some links and addresses within a week or so naming groups you can send them to. But do not let that stop after the holidays. Think of them, search for addresses of different units, and send them whatever you can. Let them know we think of them and if you desire, pray for them. They are a loyal lot, everyone of them, and even though they are fighting a winless war (and I use that term loosely), they deserve our respect and gratitude. Lets support them the best we can and get a leader deserving of them in 2008. See ya later.

Sir, Thank you for the work you are doing on behalf of the soldiers. I am currently deployed to Iraq. This is my second time here, and I have been stop-lossed. By the time I return to The United States, I will have served more than twelve months past my contract. I hope you continue your work to educate the public, especially now that the conservative right has Been galvanized by the election and perceives itself an unstoppable force in America. Yours is a respected (if not, feared) voice in Washington, and I hope you continue to champion our cause. The polls don't show it, but there is a lot more dissension here now compared to 2003. More and more of us are becoming aware of the truth. As we continue to serve (whether it be as volunteers or conscripts), we will examine what our leaders say with more scrutiny. I see it happening here already. It may not make a difference now, but maybe in twenty years, when it's these men and women that are running for office. The meantime, though, is what worries me.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sports-wise, it has been a pretty boring year. Except for the NBA Finals and the occasional bad boy report from professional sports, the American sports fan has had little to debate or cheer for. But fear not. The biggest game in the past 10 years is about to unfold for those of us bored for so long. The battle for the next Justice for the United States Supreme Courts is about to get the green flag in the Senate.
Already the participants are fighting for position like stock car racers at the Daytona 500. The bumping and banging that will occur during the next few months will surely bring back memories of The Rumble in the Jungle and the Thrilla in Manilla. The strategies played out like Gengis Kahn conquering the known world. Speaches and sound-bites will run wild like a pack of untamed stallions. Television Execs are jumping for joy at the millions in advertising fees the various interest groups will pay in order to gain public favor for their positions. The stock market will anxiously await to see how future labor and marketing laws may be affected. But what Americans will love most of all is that there will be no prisoners. Lets face it, we love the mutually assured destruction of political warfare.
No matter who the nominee is that the President chooses and no matter who finally gets confirmed by the Senate, one thing is certain: there is going to be some pissed off folks. The religious right and neocons will be suicidal if a moderate individual in the mold of the retireing Honorable Sandra Day O’Conner is nominated and confirmed, and the moderates and left will jump off a cliff if an anti-abortion, anti-affirmative action individual in the mold of the Honorable Anthony Scalia is chosen. Never mind the facts that a conservative nominee would not represent the 2/3’s of Americans that desire to have abortion laws remain as they are. Never mind that a moderate nominee will leave questions about the way they will interpret out nations most sacred document. I do not mention a liberal nominee because we all know the chances of that happening are about as remote as landing a person on Mars by the end of the year. This is a battle of moderates versus extremists. Truely, a battle of Titans, with the most people fighting the most money.
Let us stock up our cases of rotten tomatoes, brush up on our political and personal insulting skills and really try to enjoy the upcomming nonsense that we have come to love and whine about. But please remember this my fellow Americans, its is us, the American Voter, that has caused this to be. It is us that voted these idiots into the Congress to begin with. So make sure you continue to vote for the same incumbents over and over in the elections ahead. Heaven forbit we should take a chance on someone new that might change things in Washington for the better!!!!!!!

ITS ONLY ABOUT CHOICE!!!!!!!!!!

It took a few days, but I shall finally talk about the abortion issue as it is still the most divisive issue within American Society. My position is the so called pro-choice position, which some religious zealots like to refer to as "pro-death". In fact is there is no pro-death or pro-life side in this debate. There is only pro-choice.
It is every individuals right to choose what they do with their own bodies, wether man or woman. If you want a tatoo, you get one. If you want to eat alot and stay fat, that is your right. If you want to have a baby or to adopt a child, that is your right. It is your choice. The same principle applies to a womans right to choose wether or not to terminate her pregnancy. It is her business alone and only she will bear any consquences arising from any choice she makes. It is no one elses decision to make.
The pro-lifers like to point out that they represent the innocent unborn baby. That someone must be an advocate for the unborns best interest, and of course that interest as interpreted by those pro-lifers and not the mother-to-be. The pro-lifers however do not seem to concerned with others innocents that are killed daily, wether by war or starvation or by abuse from their own parents. Their only focus, as far as innocents are concerned, is with the unborn. Wether its a blastocyst, zygote, embryo, or fetur, they call it a baby. Innocent babies killed by a bomb for instance do not get the pro-lifer's consideration. You can not justify their motivation with common sense, but only with a biblical reference. If these so called pro-lifers truely valued innocent life, they would not support any war (wether justified or not) nor would they vote for agendas which decrease social spending and medical care for innocent children right here in the USA. The plain and simple truth is that most pro-lifers are hypocrits.
This nation was founded on the priciples of freedom of speach and personal freedom of choice. For any group or individual to attempt to legally force their views upon those who may disagree with their views is unconstitutional and dictatorial. The only issue with abortion is about choice, the choice of those involved and their American Right to exercise that choice in private, with their religious beliefs and loved ones. What is most ironic about this issue is that the true conservative view should be choice, with no government interference, but the religious right and those polilticians who pander for their much needed vote will continue their attempts to instill their religious views on the nation. COMMON SENSE tell you that they are going against the Constitution of this great country and I hope that all of you reading this will agree with me and remember that during the next set of elections. You may be Republican and not agree with the so called pro-lifers. If you don't agree with them, don’t vote for their nominees. Regardless of your feelings on others positions, the position of personal freedom of choice trumps all other considerations. VOTE COMMON SENSE!!!!!

A LITTE OF THIS, A LITTLE OF THAT....

I have some comments about a few things today. The talking heads on the tube have been going at it from both sides, attacking and agreeing with what the President said last night. I just want to speak some COMMON SENSE about some things which crossed the auditory canal during the day so far.
I understand that the size of government is going to increase once again, with additions to the FBI, Homeland Security Department, and the intellegence areas. Looks like the "culture of fear" is alive and well in America. I was against the creation of the Homeland Security Department, and I do not see a pressing reason for adding yet more layers of government in this fight against terror. More layers only increases the chances of yet another blunder with information concerning possible attacks and activities of terrorists, as with the mishandling of information prior to 9-11. The fact is that we did have the information that could have stopped the attacks on the awful day but some paid public servants just failed to do their job. Instead of insuring in the furure our law and intelligence officials are held accountalbe for what they fail to do, our solution is to increase the number of layers and employees. Makes no sense at all. Even intelligence did their job with tons of intelligence was gather casting doubt on the assumption that Iraq had WMD, but because the administration was predisposed to go to war with Iraq, this intelligence was not considered or given to the public. Regional FBI officials sent reports indicating terrorist-linked peoople were getting flight training at various flight schools in the USA. Yet that critical information was never forwarded further up the reporting chain and was buried in the waste bin. Correcting and insuring these stupid mistakes do not happen again would be more effective insuring we have all possible information on terrorist activities and is much better than just adding more layers and people to the government. The longer the information highway, the more likely it is to get lost, again!
Again I want to address this spin by some folks that it is "better to fight them in Iraq than on our soil". The fact that folks actually use this as a good reason for the war in Iraq is amazingly befuddling. To those of you who do believe this garbage, I ask you this: What the hell was wrong with fighting the terrorists where they actually were, in Afghanistan????? Iraq had no connections to terrorists or their operations, AFGHANISTAN DID!!!!!!!!! We did not have to invade Iraq to fight the terrorist "over there". WE ALREADY WERE FIGHTING THEM "OVER THERE", IN AFGHANISTAN!!! This fact only shows how easy it is to get Bush follows to throw out rational thinking and reality. Truely amazing. We were fighting terrorists when we invaded Afghanistan and yet these people use that arguement for the war in Iraq where there were no terrorists until AFTER we invaded. Talk about crazy!!!!!!
As a final thought for today let me add something concerning the democrats. They keep saying that Bush needs to explain his plan for Iraq, yet they seem to have no plan of their own to present to the public. I understand the Presidents plan (and as stated in previous posts, I disagree with it), but for the dems to accuse the President of the same thing they are guilty of is just plain dumb. If you are gonna criticize any plan, at least have the common sense to have a plan of your own to submit to the public. Yes, even the left has been afflicted with this "lack of common sense" that has engulfed Washington the past decade or so. Lets hope we can cure this bi-partisian desease and create a vaccine against it for the future. All it take is COMMON SENSE!!

PRESIDENTS SPEECH AT FORT BRAGG

Well, I just had to say a few words about the Presidents speech at Fort Bragg this evening. Even before he spoke I knew what he would say. It would be out of character for him to consider telling the American people what is really going on. Plus, changing his rhetoric would be an admission of a mistake, which we know Bush will never do. I would however like to commend the President on his presentation as this speech was the most coherent to date.
The President laid out no new plan, even though it is obvious to almost everyone that the current plan is not working, is to costly in money and lives, and will never eliminate the terror threat towards the USA. The fact is that the terror threat against us is now greater than at any time in history. As noted in the CIA report, Iraq is now a training ground for terrorists, which means that terrorists that get into the USA will be the best trained ever. Nice going Mr. President.
The fact is that our troops deserve so much better leadership than Bush is providing. His total reluctance to admit and correct obvious mistakes is a complete slander towards our troops in Iraq and also continues to lower our respect and credibility in the world community. Bush touted all these numbers concerning the countries involved in Iraq, yet I never hear mention of the actual number of troops or the total amount of money each has actually given to the effort in Iraq. I wonder why? He also fails to acknowledge that the USA has never won a guerella type war, anywhere in the world, with or without help from other countries. If he did acknowledge this fact, he would realize that the current plan he touts will not rid the world of terrorists, and that a change in this plan is warranted. I propose the following actions to quarantee an end to the war in Iraq.
We must literally invade Iraq again, in particular the Sunni Triangle area, with another 200,000 troops. The northern and southern areas seem to be pretty well under control with only rare attacks noted in the Kurdish area in the north. This invasion of the Triangle would be run as a new invasion of Iraq, with the goals of 1)completely securing all borders of Iraq, and 2) completely securing each area and city within the triangle. The military would advance over territory and secure it in turn, along with total control established in each city. Each house in every city would be searched as in a real war to root out weapons and supplies used by insurgents, as well as rounding up or killing all insurgents. This would also give the Iraqi citizens the security to provide intelligence on insurgent locations and activities, something which is lacking now because of the failure to provide these citizens with security. This invasion would incompass the entire Triangle region, all cities and land. Every square foot would be searched and secured. This action would be quicker than the current plan, cost fewer lives, and give the Iraqi the best chance at governing themselves. It would also lessen the chances of an all out civil war as the weapons for that war would not exist in the population. Full scale weapon searches would also be conducted in the north and south, but since the terror attacks in those regions are rare, less emphasis could be placed on rooting out insurgents, and thus require less manpower. In a nutshell, this action would be another war in Iraq, and ran as such.
Another benefit to this action would be the training of the Iraqi troops. There is no better training tool than experience, and the Iraqi Army would be with the American troops during this action and be full participants in it. They could learn first hand the techniques of war, learn the equipment, and then be a much better force to secure Iraq after American troops are pulled out. Having the Iraqi troops involved would also gain more respect from the population as the action could not be viewed as an "invading" foreign army.
Last but not least, this would get all our troops home in the shortest amount of time with a much lower loss of life than the current plan is experiencing. Right now, ,our troops are not allowed to fight a "war" but rather patrol as exposed targets that can not fight until attacked. During this action our troops would be fighting a real war,using techniques for war, and thus suffer far less casualties, as with the original "invasion" of Iraq. But the bottom line is that all of Iraq borders would be secure, hidden weapon caches destroyed, the Iraqi Army fully trained and capable, and our troops could come home. Damn it, just get it done and over with instead of this cheap ass, nit picky, here and there plan we are in right now. In other words, TRUELY KICK THEIR ASS AND COME HOME. No one can deny that my plan would accomplish that.
Think about it folks. COMMON SENSE tells ya that it will work, be quicker, and will get our heros home. That is what our troops deserve. Lets honor their sacrafice and get this over with and succeed.

WHICH POLITICAL PARTY IS WHICH????

It apears that a morphing has taken place between the Republicans and the Democrats (at least according to some folks). I consider myself to be an Independent that leans to the right. On most issues I am an outright Republican. I believe in states rights, freedom to own guns, a fair tax system, balanced budgets, and strongly support individual freedom and the rights of personal choice (within the laws of course). I totally support the actions against Afghanistan (that is where the attacks on 9-11 came from after all), but I did not support our actions in Iraq. Now, even though I did not support going into Iraq, I realize that we must stay there, mistakes not withstanding, and turn Iraq into a insurgent free democracy that the Iraqi people will accept. Let me also add at this time that I support a strong and flexable military, but I hate the wastefull spending which permeates the procurement system, which some estimates have put at close to 30% of the total Defense Buudget. All of these beliefs put me into the good Republican mold, do they not??? I do support some of the social issues important to Democrats,such as Social Security (against taking money out for private accounts), for more spending on education, an overhaul of our healthcare system (but not turning it into a socialist type), and I strongly believe that we need to spendd billions on improving our infrastructure, to include roads, bridges and water systems (this issue could apply to both parties). All of my positions, wether a "dem" or "rep" position, are good COMMON SENSE positions, right????

Well, to a Neocon I am a total Liberal (Neocons rarely use the term Democrat). What I am trying to figure out is when did a Republican view morph into a Liberal view?? Is it possible that the two parties are actually changing places? For instance, this administration has been the most Liberal spenders within my lifetime. They have increased the size and scope of government (though it can be debated if it was necessary) by passing the Patriot Act (which I like to call The Act of Fear) and create the Homeland Security Department, which this administration was first against (rep position), but then flip-flopped their position to agree with the Democrats who proposed it (Lieberman I believe). Am I not correct that the preceeding are Liberal positions?? It gets even crazier folks.

It also appears that if you disagree with anything Bush does, not only are you a Liberal, but you are also unpatriotic. An "Anti-American socialist" as Neocons love to spew. And this label is applied even if it is only one position you disagree with this administration on. Is this not what happened in Germany during the rise of Hitler?? I am not sayint Neocons are Hitler, so any Neocons reading this can just forget the spin. I am however comparing the format of their arguement. Neocons condemn any opposition to their views or agenda and as a result make up stupid generalization that they then use to attacking those folks who talk out against them and their agenda. This is exactly the technique Hitler used during his rise to power. Now, if that is not anti-American, I don’t know what is. When you also add in the fact that the Neocons always will deny a truth that opposes their agenda or view, it gets even closer to the Hitler way. I can not understand why this is so. True republicans would never act like this, nor Democrats for that matter. So now you have this "Hitler Technique" habit along with the incorrect determination of party affiliation.

When you tie these actions of the Neocons into religion, which many Neocons claim to have a monoply on politically, it’s almost enough to make you dizzy with confusion. How can anyone consider themselves a Christian and a Republican when they make untrue generaliation, attack with completely illogical rationalizations, and yet believe that everyone else is anti-Christian and a Liberal commie??? These are hardlly acts of a Christian, a Republican or Democrat, yet Neocons insist, to the point of hysteria, that they are patriotic, God-fearing,GOPers.
I am confident that the majority of Americans who consider themselves Republicans are not this extreme. It is true that all Neocons voted for Bush, but not all that voted for Bush are Neocons. I believe the majority of Bush supporters are true Republicans and not Neocons. Neocons are a minority but they do control the Republican party. They have hijacked it, and I am sure many Republicans will agree with me. A similar type of social change was attempted during the last term of the Reagan Administration, when the Neocons pushed and shoved Washington to pass some of their religious agendas, such as the anti-abortion issue, and mandatory prayer in schools (Christian prayer only). They will deny they attempted this, but in fact they did, in a very hateful and hypocritical way. I remember the Jerry Falwells and Pat Robertsons with their speaches pushing for these religious reforms in our government, completely throwing out the separation of church and state? The backlash from that attempt was part of the reason for the election of Clinton in 1992. The same thing will happen this time also. The Neocons are trying to push aside all opposition by 1)using the silly labeling in an attempt to keep the moderate republican voters in line with the republican party, and 2) by taking proven truths and leaviing out a few words in order to spin that truth to more suit their agenda, wether it turns into an outright lie or not (as with the situation with Sen. Durbins remarks which they spun as an insult to our troops, when in fact he was not even thinking of the troops actions). These Hitler Techniques (and again Neocons, I am not saying you are Hitler) will be seen by the majority of Americans for the misinformation that they are, and as a result the Republican monopoly in DC will schrink and eventually disappear as the country puts the Moderates or Democrats back in control. History always repeats itself, and I am sure this will be no exception.

In closing this post, let me say that COMMON SENSE knows no party, but Neocons know no COMMON SENSE.
